I work closely with my clients to develop and utilize creative alternative fee arrangements. No one size fits all. Rather than take a formulaic, "billable hours" approach, I have found that most successful alternative fee arrangements, for clients are the ones crafted on a case-by-case basis with client input.
This type of “all in” price for a distinct piece of work encompasses all of our preparation and effort. It is a good fit for situations in which certain component pieces of work or legal matter are distinct and measurable such that we can agree on a workable fixed fee schedule, even if the number of “units” of work may vary going forward.
Used to set a ceiling on what you pay for a matter or particular project. This model is a good fit for situations in which the client is most comfortable with the hourly rate billing model and favors greater predictability (by capping fees on the high end) as opposed to lowering fees (by sharing with the law firm a portion of savings generated under fixed fees).
I also offer an innovative subscription-based service that provides each client with a specific set of legal services. Depending on your needs, this subscription service is tailor-made for a low monthly fee, which is typically less than my standard hourly rate. In addition to its affordability, the primary advantage of my subscription service is that it permits in-house counsel to manage environmental legal costs and further develop a long-standing relationship with me over time.
For those clients that prefer a standard hourly billing arrangement, I am open to negotiating hourly rates based on the legal expertise and effort required for specific projects or matters.
Of course, I am also open to considering other alternative billing arrangements, such as blended hourly rates, volume discounts, and incentives/success fees.
